Badatelské zaměření
Zabývám se teoriemi poznání a vědy v post-helenistické antice, zejména v galénovské přírodní filosofii a raném křesťanství.
Zajímá mne, jak se vědecký postoj ke světu oddělil od filosofického a náboženského a v čem se tyto postoje od sebe liší. Zkoumám, jak staré žánry myšlení, ke kterým se dodnes hlásíme, zdůvodňují své výpovědi o člověku a o světě – jakou roli v tom hraje zkušenost, jakou víra a jakou logika. Zajímá mne také rozdíl mezi argumenty, jejichž cílem je něco poznat, a těmi, jejichž cílem je někoho o něčem přesvědčit.
